Background
Formed in 1994, Mid-Maine Communications has become a trusted local telecommunications company that residential and business customers count on for fast, reliable Internet and telephony services, thoughtful attention to unique communications needs and superior customer support.

History
Mid-Maine Communications was formed in 1994. Our initial service offerings were limited to providing local telephone service to 26 residential communities surrounding Bangor, Maine. In 1997, we started a dialup Internet business and in the years since, have become one of the largest ISPs in the state.

In 1999, fueled by the growth of our ISP and as part of our expansion to southern Maine, we completed construction of a fiber optic network from Ellsworth to Portland. Our fiber network has continued to grow and is now one of the largest fiber networks in the State of Maine.

In 2000, we began to offer local telephone, Wide Area Network (WAN) and high-speed Internet services to business consumers in most major markets in Maine, becoming one of the first Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) in the State of Maine.

In April 2006, Mid-Maine Communications was acquired by Otelco, Inc. a publicly traded communications company headquartered in Oneonta, Alabama. The company now operates as an independently managed division of Otelco.

Today, Mid-Maine Communications has become the premier full service telecommunications provider in the State of Maine. Service offerings have expanded to include voice and Internet packages for residential consumers as well as the most comprehensive service and account management portfolio available for business consumers. Our fiber optic transport infrastructure and voice and data switching is top of line and built with service reliability and functionality in mind.
